COVENTRY Refugee and Migrant Centre has appealed for help as they aim to create ‘gift bags’ for everyone attending its free Winter Holiday party who may otherwise not receive a Christmas present this year.
The centre welcomes and aims to empower asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants in Coventry to rebuild their lives and achieve their potential.
Their party will take place between 4pm and 6pm on Wednesday, December 6 at St Peter’s Church in Hillfields.
The centre has found many of its clients don’t receive any gifts during the festive season and will instead spend Christmas alone.
It’s hoped each person at the party will be able to receive self-care gift bags packed with items such as shower gel, shampoo, socks, chocolate, a bus day ticket, toothpaste, a toothbrush and deodorant.
At the party, guests will be able to take part in several games as well as food and drink.
There will also be several local businesses and charities on hand to provide support and information and hand out festive treats.
A JustGiving page has been set up to try and raise the cash needed to buy the gift bags.
