Coventry Editorial 16th Nov, 2022   0

AN OPERATION against vehicle crime in Coventry has seen two people being arrested and a stolen van being seized.

Neighbourhood officers conducted car checks in the city alongside colleagues from Force Traffic on Tuesday, November 15, where they checked vehicle and driver details.

They also gave out safety and security advice.

A stolen Ford Transit van was recovered, with two taken into custody for this in addition to drug offences and possession of an offensive weapon.

Advice was also given to several drivers on how to keep their vehicles secure, such as keeping them locked and not leaving valuables on show.

This was in response to a rise in vehicle crime, particularly where Range Rovers and Fiestas are being targeted.

PS Deborah Walker, from Coventry Police, said: “Vehicle crime is one of our top priorities and we are working hard every day to catch criminals involved in this type of crime.

“Events like this are a great way of showing our commitment to tackling vehicle crime, as well as helping us give advice to drivers on how they can keep their cars and belongings safe.

“As always, we need the public’s help to let us know of vehicle crime incidents and any suspicious activity so we can take action and stop it.”
