BALSALL Common stillbirth and neonatal death charity The Lily Mae Foundation has been handed a massive £40,000 cash boost from delivery and logistics giant UPS.
The $49,000 (£39,467) grant has been used to purchase a Land Rover Discovery to take bereaved parents and their families to hospital and counselling appointments, transport the foundation’s Memory Boxes to local hospitals, transport equipment to fundraising events and activities and take trustees to meetings, events and appointments.
“We are indebted to the UPS Foundation and the Team at Coventry for their tremendous help and generosity that will enable the charity to continue to grow and to develop and extend the range of supporting programmes that it is able to offer to parents and families who have tragically and traumatically lost a baby,” said Ryan and Amy Jackson, trustees and founders of the charity set up in memory of their daughter Lily Mae who was ‘born sleeping’.
A spokesperson for the UPS Foundation added: ” UPS were honoured to present the Lily Mae Foundation with a cheque for $49,000, which will support the charity’s vital work.
“The Lily Mae Foundation was picked specifically by our staff in Coventry, who were overwhelmed by their work within the local community. “A grant of this size was made possible by the dedication and commitment of UPS employees, who worked in excess of 99 hours across a range activities and initiatives.
“This included marshalling Hollywood & Wythall Fun Run, helping a leaflet drop for The Lily Mae Foundation Fun Run (with one intrepid UPS fundraiser running 10k!) and organising a Eurovision bring-a-plate day.
“Supporting charitable work is incredibly important to UPS, and we look forward to working with organisations like the Lily Mae Foundation for years to come.”
