Bedworth man caged for two and a half years for GBH

A BEDWORTH man has been sentenced to two and a half years behind bars for GBH.

Gavin Buckland, 39 of Hospital Lane in Bedworth, was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on May, 23 for inflicting grievous bodily hard and a victims surcharge of £228.

On 18 March 2023 in a pub car park on Smorral Lane in Bedworth, three women were having an altercation – Buckland was with two of the women, and the third was there with another man in his 30s.

The man in his 30s attempted to split up the fight, at which point he was headbutted and punched a number of times by Buckland, receiving a severely split lip and injuries to his ear.

At hospital, the victim was informed that he had sustained fractures on both sides of his jaw and his eardrum had been perforated.

When officers interview him, Buckland answered no comment to every question.

He received a restraining order so he can not contact the victim for the next ten years.

PC Boyle from the Bedworth Patrol team said “Buckland beat a man hard enough to fracture his jaw for reasons that are not readily obvious.

“Having a punch-up in a pub car park is a stupid way to end an evening, and Buckland has got two and a half years in prison to consider whether it was worth it.”
