A BEDWORTH teenager has been arrested after an alleged vehicle chase involving a machete which resulted in a collision.

The 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in connection with the incident, which happened on July 18.

The incident took place on Brights Road when allegedly someone on a motorbike was approached by three men in a dark grey Vauxhall Insignia.

One of them allegedly carried a machete and attempted to chase the victim.

The victim is alleged to have ridden off on his bike and was pursued by the Vauxhall, with the pursuit reported to have stopped when the car collided with a Honda Civic on Seven Foot Lane.

The three people in the Vauxhall are said to have fled the scene wearing face coverings, with witnesses saying they were all carrying machetes.

There were also reports of a firearm.

A search by police later found a machete and several bags of cannabis inside the Vauxhall, which is believed to have been stolen the day before from Bayton Road in Exhall.

After further investigation, an arrest was made on Ashington Road just after 5am on August 9.

The 16-year-old remains in custody.

Dt Con Lynch said “Bringing violent thugs who believe they’re untouchable back to reality and the consequences of their actions is what the job’s about.

“Our efforts related to Operation Outfitter, our initiative to tackle youth violence in Nuneaton and Bedworth, are bearing fruit.”
