NEWLYWEDS in Solihull are celebrating starting married life in style – after winning over £150,000 in a spot the ball competition.

Steven and Bonnie-Lee Brooks suffered a summer of disappointment after their wedding day was cancelled three times due to coronavirus restrictions.

In August, the Elmdon couple managed to get hitched in Cyprus. Now just weeks later, a prize draw Steven enters regularly has rewarded them with £153,000 in winnings.

Steven told the Observer: “It’s a spot-the-ball prize draw called Best of the Best where you win a car and cash – I was lucky enough to win this week. So I won the car and 70,000.

“It’s absolutely great news for us. With everything that has happened in the last year it is amazing to win. We had our wedding cancelled three times, then managed go away to Cyprus but that was cancelled by the operator, but we managed to get a flight to Cyprus and get married on August 15.

“We are still in our honeymoon period and have now been surprised with the car and the cash.

“We can now do everything we want to on our house –  and put on a big family party when we are out of lockdown

“On Best of the Best you select the car to win and bid based on the value of the car. When you win, you get the car or the cash equivalent. And that is with 70,000 on top as a double winning. It comes to about 153,000 – I was totally speechless when the Best of the Best team delivered the winnings to my door.”
