COVENTRY City have brought in two players from Burton Albion today in a swap deal, we can reveal.

Striker Stuart Beavon has been signed on an 18-month contract.

And 23-year-old Burton midfielder Callum Reilly comes in on loan until the end of the season.

Centre-forward Marvin Sordell has made the switch to Burton Albion on a permanent deal.

The Sky Blues have also landed Bradford City defender Nathan Clarke, who played for new boss Russell Slade at Leyton Orient, in news confirmed by Bradford last night.

It is Slade’s first activity in the crucial January transfer window following a defeat and yesterday’s 1-1 draw and improved performance at Peterborough in his first two games, leaving the Sky Blues still one place off the bottom in League One.

Beavon, aged 32, has scored 13 goals in 97 appearances for Burton Albion.

Russell Slade said: “Stuart was a major part of Burton’s progression out of League One last year.

“He is relentless with his application and work ethic and gives you everything for the entire 90 minutes.

“His link-up play is very good, can score you goals, and he is the kind of team player we need at the football club.”

Russell Slade added: “Callum has a lovely left foot and good experience at this level and higher in the Championship. He’s both competitive and combative, with great energy.

“Callum has a great desire to win a football match and that kind of determination is vital to any dressing room.”
