THESE pictures show the aftermath of a serious car crash on Binley Road near Stoke Green Park this morning.
A long stretch of Binley Road – a main commuter route in and out of the city – was closed for hours, from Brays Lane to North Avenue.
A statement is awaited by the emergency services regarding those involved in the incident.
Some commuters tweeted about their journeys at around 9am:
Simon Kirby tweeted: “Traffic nightmare due to RTC near The Avenues on Binley Rd. Police closed Road for investigations. Traffic diverting onto Walsgrave Rd causing further delays. Journey extended by 20-30+ here.”
Alison Martin tweeted: “Binley Road in Coventry’s closed. Ended up driving around Stoke (the area in Cov, not the city. I wasn’t that lost!)”
Bus services were also affected.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said it was called at 6.09am.
He added: “Three ambulances attended with a paramedic officer and merit trauma doctor.
“We were called to reports of a car that had collided with a tree.
“Taken one person to hospital, and looks quite serious.”
