‘KEY MEETINGS’ are due to take place this afternoon to determine the immediate future of the Coventry Bees speedway team.
The sport’s governing body confirmed the meeting to fans this morning when a tweet from the @SpeedwayGB Twitter account read: “We confirm key meetings taking place today which will help determine the immediate future of Coventry.”
The tweet continued: “We will update when we can.”
Bees have confirmed to The Observer a statement will not be released until the matter is finalised.
It is currently unknown if a statement will be released today, however The Observer has contacted the Coventry Bees to see if news is likely to be released in the next 24 hours.
In the past week it has been rumoured the club could compete at Leicester’s Beaumont Park for the start of the season.
However a poll ran by The Observer revealed 80 per cent of Bees fans were against the idea of travelling 29 miles up the M69 to watch their team in action.
Last year, Bees fans were told on two occasions speedway at Brandon was safe following an ongoing off-track dispute between Bees owner Mick Horton, CoventryStox and Brandon Estates Ltd – owners of the Coventry site.
However in December the removal of various fittings cast more doubts over the future of the world famous club – who are due to race in just 70 days in their first SGB Premiership fixture against Kings Lynn Stars.
More to come as we get it.
