A BURGLAR who stole over £3,000 worth of items from homes in Coventry has been jailed after police identified him through the tracker in a laptop he took.
Yesterday (November 16) 47-year-old Orville Allen was sentenced to 40 months for burglaries which took place on October 18, November 7 and 14 December 14, 2020, as well as for breaching previous bail conditions following a trial at Warwickshire Justice Centre.
Allen stole technology including laptops, an Apple Mac and a Playstation 4 from homes in and around Earlsdon in 2020.
CCTV footage from the October 18 burglary caught Allen entering a kitchen and searching through drawers and cabinets.
He was arrested four days later and was on court bail for the offence when police identified him in connection with the November 7 burglary, which saw him steal an Apple Mac laptop, Apple Air Pods, Beats speakers, a backpack a Playstation 4 and two wireless controllers.
Footage was examined by officers who saw Allen carrying the stolen backpack.
Then on December 14, he stole three laptops and after examining tracking data from one of them police located him at his home address.
A search led to one of the laptops being found under a television cabinet in the living room, and Allen was then arrested.
