A BURGLARY suspect has been caught in a loft in Coventry, police say.

West Midlands Police said: “Will crime suspects ever learn not to play hide and seek with us?!

“We caught a man hiding in a loft following a burglary this morning (May 20).

“Our officers and a police dog responded to a shop break-in on Cannon Hill Road, Coventry, at around 5am.

“The burglar fled on our arrival but we tracked the suspect heading into a nearby flats block. “We contained the block while door to door enquiries were carried out.

“We quickly narrowed the search down to one flat and following a thorough search of the property we found the suspect hiding in the loft space.

“A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and is currently in custody for questioning.

“It comes after our officers discovered another suspected burglar wrapped up in lagging in a loft in Wolverhampton last week.”

Detective Sergeant Kath Hartley, from force CID, said: “You don’t want to play hide and seek with us… as it’s a game you won’t win.

“We’ve got specially trained police dogs and alert officers who know how to find you.

“You won’t get another chance to hide, or play seeker afterwards, as you will be heading straight to one of our custody blocks.”
