Business leaders welcome fall in unemployment across Coventry

BUSINESS leaders have welcomed the latest fall in unemployment across Coventry.

The total number of people unemployed across Warwickshire fell from 4,007 to 3,909 in December 2015.

Louise Bennett, chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said the drop in unemployment across Coventry is good news, though warned issues still need to be addressed.

She added: “Our conclusions from our latest quarterly economic survey suggest that businesses will be continuing to recruit more staff in the region.

“However, through our Go For Growth campaign, we have recognised some barriers to business growth and it’s important that we ensure that every hurdle that’s in the way of companies growing and taking on more people is removed.

“Whilst we welcome the figures, we can’t shy away from the fact that there are issues that need to be addressed in order for companies to keep growing and for unemployment to keep coming down.”
