Call for volunteers at Barnardo's Coventry charity store

HELPING hands are needed at a Coventry charity shop to raise as much money possible for vulnerable children.

Barnardo’s has received thousands of bags of donations since opening at the Warwickshire Shopping Park in Binley during summer 2015.

The donations are re-sold to support the charity’s work with children and young people who are challenged by poverty, abuse, disability and discrimination.

Manager Kelly Williamson hopes to recruit a bigger term of volunteers to sort and price the stock, arrange displays and to help serve customers.

Kelly said: “Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, gain valuable retail experience and support Barnardo’s work with some of the UK’s most disadvantaged children.

“We already have a small team of five volunteers aged from their teens to their 60s who do an incredible job, but we could achieve so much more if we had just a few more helping hands.”

Kelly explained she is looking for people from all walks of life, all ages and those with different levels of time to give.

She added: “Volunteers play an incredible role and we simply wouldn’t be able to function without them.

“They give their time and energy to make an amazing difference to the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people.”
