Campaign launched by Marie Curie to get more volunteers in Coventry

Coventry Editorial 29th Nov, 2024   0

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to find volunteers in Coventry to help Marie Curie spread joy this Christmas, writes Sage Whitfield.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading ‘end of life charity’ and is urging residents to collect for its Christmas Appeal to help bring care, comfort and joy to people this festive season.

The charity is dependent on public donations so Marie Curie nurses and healthcare professionals can provide expert hospice care, whatever illness, in the comfort of a home or at its hospice in Solihull.

The charity is encouraging the people across Coventry to give just two hours to donate a festive hat and take it to their local high street or supermarket to help raise much-needed funds to support people facing the toughest of times this Christmas.

Marie Curie helps people with any illness including Alzheimer’s (and any other forms of dementia), heart, liver, kidney and lung disease, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s, and advanced cancer.

The cash raised also funds the charity’s free support line and webchat, offering practical and emotional support on everything from symptom management and day-to-day care to financial information and bereavement support.

Marie Curie’s community fundraiser for Coventry, Rachael Ryan, said: “It’s thanks to our amazing volunteers and supporters that Marie Curie can continue to provide the best possible care for anyone living with terminal illness, at home, in our hospices, or over the phone.

“Volunteering is also a fantastic way to get the Christmas spirit and meet new people in our community.”
