WEST MIDLANDS Police have been targeting cannabis farms in Coventry and have closed down more this week.

Officers from the Gangs and Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation (SOCEX) teams carried out a number of warrants and found over 200 plants and making one arrest.

On December 4, officers carried out a Misuse of Drugs act warrant at an address in Grangemouth Road.

Over 50 cannabis plants were recovered from the bedrooms of the house, which had been converted into a cannabis farm and the loft was found to have been fully converted ready to receive more plants in the future.

Working with colleagues from the energy supplier, the property was made safe and the plants were seized.

Also found inside was a 37-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of abstracting electricity and being concerned in the production of a Class B drug.

Following this, immigration colleagues called police after another cannabis farm was found in Ernsford Avenue during a warrant.

Three growing rooms were found inside, with 152 plants at different stages of development stored throughout the property.

The force attended to make the site safe and ensure the destruction of the plants, with enquiries ongoing to establish who was responsible for the operation.

Last week, police closed down a significant cannabis farm in the city, with over 500 plants being seized.
