THE team at Harper Fields care home in Balsall Common are making plans to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a two day event in a marquee hired especially for the occasion.
And they’re calling for nominations for local heroes who would like to join them.
“On Saturday, June 4 we are holding a Jubilee Afternoon tea with the wonderful ‘U3a Swing Division’ which is a 17 piece jazz and swing band,” said activities co-ordinator Sharon McIntosh.
“On Sunday, June 5 there will be a Jubilee Gala Luncheon in our grand marquee with harpist Stephanie West followed by the wonderfully talented Steven James to sing and entertain us.
“The lunch menu is incredible, starter choices are Glen Eagles pate or smoked salmon, trout and mackerel pate with granary bread or melon balls.
“Mains are roast beef and Yorkshire pudding or salmon wellington.
For dessert we have sticky toffee pudding with custard or ice cream or strawberry panacotta with shortbread biscuit.
“To accompany the meal will be red and white wine, elderflower water followed by coffee and mints all freshly prepared.”
Harper Fields is extending an invitaiton to a small number of VIP guests to our two events.
And they are calling for nominations of people who may be a local hero for their community to contact Sharon at [email protected] or on 01676 531800.
