Care home plants symbol of unity and hope among residents

Coventry Editorial 18th Apr, 2021

A COVENTRY care home has held a tree planting ceremony to mark this poignant moment in history and symbolise unity amongst the care home residents, their local community, and the care team.

The ornamental plum tree, chosen because it signifies hope and perseverance as well as beauty thriving in adverse circumstances – is the first to come into leaf in spring and the last to lose its leaves in winter – was planted at The Knowles Care Home by the residents with the help of grounds keeper Richard, as part of the home’s celebrations.

Home manager at The Knowles, Hayley Langley said: “The event was very moving for all.

“We feel touched to be part of something so meaningful and to recognise this incredible moment in history alongside the residents, their relatives, friends and our colleagues, as we start to see visitors return to or home.

“We recognised the hard work that our team has put in to keep us infection free and how this experience has bonded us all as a community.”
