THE LAST year 11 prom to be held at West Coventry Academy’s old school building will take place today (June 30), writes Daisy Dillon.
And, to make the occasion more memorable, contractors Bowmer and Kirkland which are working on the new building have donated £500 towards the event.
The new multi-million rebuild is due to be completed in the next few months meaning next year’s prom will take place there.
Helen Bedford, the contractor’s social value manager and John Spencer, the site manager, met students Kaycee and Daniel to present them with the cash.
Teacher Karron Lane said: “As an ex-student and now a member of staff at WCA, as much as it’s sad to say goodbye to the old site of Tile Hill Wood, which holds so many memories, it’s going to be an amazing opportunity over in our new building to continue serving the community.”
Headteacher Ana Neofitou added they were very grateful to Bowmer and Kirkland.
“Throughout the build of our new site, the company has engaged with us and the school community, including getting involved with career events.”
