Cash left by lifelong Coventry City fan helps fund academy gym

Coventry Editorial 1st Mar, 2023   0

FUNDS left to Coventry City by a lifelong Sky Blues fan have helped to create a new purpose-built gym for the club’s academy.

Coventry supporter Gerald Pearson passed away in 2019 and left money to his beloved football club to support its academy.

The Sky Blues have used the money left by Gerald to create the new gym at its Alan Higgs Centre base, which will solely be used by academy players.

This is the first time the club’s academy has had its own on-site performance facility.

The academy’s head of physical performance, Ryan Penny, said the new gym has already had a positive impact on the club’s young footballers.

He also thanked Gerald for his ‘incredible gesture.’
