CCTV images have been released in the search for a violent gang after a robbery in Coventry.
As we reported, a five-strong gang launched a savage ‘unprovoked’ attack on a man as he walked through Earlsdon in the early hours of of Monday, July 22.
In the wake of the incident on Rochester Road, an anonymous resident offered a £500 reward.
Police have now released much clearer images than the one a resident provided on social media and have launched an appeal.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Do you recognise any of these people?
“We’d like to speak to them about a robbery on Rochester Road in the Earlsdon area of Coventry just before 1am.
“A man was assaulted on the road before having his phone stolen.”
Writing on Facebook in July the resident said: “One of the victims was severely beaten to the ground and repeatedly kicked in the head and body.
“He needed hospital treatment.”
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said at the end of July: “Police are investigating reports of a robbery on Rochester Road.
“Two men were walking home when they were followed by a group of masked men who tried to grab the pair, punching one of them and pushing him to the floor before stealing his phone and running off.
“He suffered injuries to his face and was treated in hospital.
“CCTV is being reviewed and investigations are ongoing.”
