Celebration for care centre milestone

Coventry Editorial 9th Oct, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A CHARITY that helps care for elderly people in the community has celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Coundon Care Centre has been providing a safe, friendly and comfortable environment for elderly people in the communities of Coundon and the wider areas of the city for over 30 years.

First established in 1984 before becoming a registered charity four years later, it provides a day centre, house visits and individual counselling for people with old age.

A cake was generously donated by ASDA in Walsgrave and Pam Barnes was also presented with a large bouquet of flowers following her retirement after 29 years with the charity.

She said: “The whole day went really and and I was taken back by the flowers – it was a wonderful moment.

“To celebrate 30 years is a wonderful achievement for the charity because we are not funded. We had nothing to lose and everything to gain. It’s not an easy job but that’s what makes it so rewarding.”
