THE CURATOR and volunteers at Coventry Music Museum are celebrating after the venue was awarded a prestigious 2021 Travellers’ Choice accolade by Tripadvisor.
It celebrates businesses which consistently deliver fantastic experiences to travellers all over the world.
The museum was recognised with the award – which puts it in the top ten per cent of attractions – because of the number of highly positive reviews posted about it in the past 12 months.
Director and curator Pete Chambers, who writes the Observer’s popular weekly Music Matters column, said: “For a small independent museum during the Covid crisis this is exemplary.
“A massive thanks to everyone who helped make this happen – our team, supporters and amazing volunteers and all those wonderful guests who were kind enough to write a review on Tripadvisor for us.
“You are all amazing and it’s things like this that show (especially during City of Culture) that we are all doing our bit at the museum and 2-Tone Village and making a difference to Coventry’s tourism offering.”
The Music Museum is currently experiencing more than twice the visitor numbers it received last year and the year before and admissions are being surpassed every week.
“If you are yet to visit, we urge you to make that trip and come and see something very special – created by the fans for the fans.”
The Coventry Music Museum – which is ‘Good to Go’ Covid compliant – is open from 10am to 3.30pm (last entry) Thursday to Saturday and between 10am and 2.30pm (last entry) on Sundays.
Currently exhibiting is Ghost Town 2 Host Town – marking the 40th anniversary of The Specials’ Ghost Town.
It also houses the original Ghost Town Vauxhall Cresta as seen in the Specials video for the chart-topping song.
