A CELEBRITY chef will be showcasing his culinary skills with mouth-watering demonstrations when a popular food event returns.

Award winning four-time Michelin star chef Jean Christophe Novelli will be cooking up a storm in the kitchen at the Coventry Food and Drink Festival in Broadgate between Friday (June 9) and Sunday (June 11).

The chef, who is currently starring in ITV’s ‘Culinary Genius’, will be playing host to a number of special demonstrations for the festival, which is back for its second year.

Jean-Christophe will be appearing on the Saturday and Sunday – and visitors will be able to go along, watch his tutorials and enjoy everything else that will be on offer for free.

He said: “I am pleased to be supporting this year’s Coventry Food and Drink Festival as I heard the first one was such a success.

“I hope more people turn out this year and we can make the weekend bigger and better than 2016.

“People can expect a lot of helpful cooking hints and tips, as well as fun during my demonstrations across the two days and I look forward to seeing everyone there.”

Along with a visit from the celebrity chef, there will be an abundance of other activities and displays going ahead during the three days.

More than 50 traders will be exhibiting at the festival and a number of Coventry BID businesses will be present.

Matthew Gledhill, director of lead event management, said: “We were extremely pleased our concept of a food and drink festival in the heart of Coventry was so well received in 2016.

“Now be working in conjunction with Coventry BID in developing the event in 2017 and beyond is fantastic.

“We have worked hard to improve on last year’s event and are delighted with the diversity and quality of the line-up this year.”

There will also be a series of other demonstrations for visitors to enjoy including how to create the perfect Sunday lunch and even your own caramel making.

Coventry BID manager, Trish Willetts, said: “We are extremely excited to have Jean-Christophe coming to Coventry for the food and drink festival this year.

“Once again the weekend is going to be fantastic and there will be so much going on for all to enjoy.”
