From Monday 1 of November, Broad Street walk-in testing centre and Whitefriars walk-in testing centre in the city will reduce their opening hours, as a result of limited demand for PCR testing during this time.
Previously the test sites have so far operated from 8am until 8pm, 7 days per week.
However, from Monday 1 November, Regional and Local Test Sites in England will begin to operate from 8am until 6pm, 2 hours less per day.
This change doesn’t affect our drive-through testing sites at Moat Street Car Park or CBS Arena, which will both continue to be available between 9am and 3pm, every day.
Mobile Testing Units are also not included in this change and continue to be available as normal at local deployments.
The number of appointments on offer at PCR test sites will not reduce and any appointments already booked will not be lost due to this change, but instead be reallocated into the new operating hours.
Liz Gaulton, director of public health and wellbeing said: “We are experiencing much lower numbers coming forward for tests in the latter hours of the day, and through the home delivery service of PCR test kits, residents or workers in the city can continue to be tested.”
“The risks from Covid-19 are very much with us this autumn so if you have any symptoms of coronavirus, you must get tested and self-isolate in a bid to prevent further spread of the virus.
“Regular Lateral Flow testing for those who are non-symptomatic also remains vital. We must remember that this pandemic is not over”.
