Charity shop owners call on Coventry community for help after break-in

Coventry Editorial 17th May, 2024   0

A RALLYING call has been made to the Willenhall community to come together and help a charity shop which was targeted by raiders, causing £1,500 worth of damage.

The owners of the store – Sense, raises cash to support people living with complex disabilities, was broken into overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The shop on Remembrance Road was forced to close all day on Wednesday leading to lost sales, as well as the cost of repairs.

The front door was smashed and the back room and till were badly damaged but very little was taken.

Simone Tiano, area manager for Sense’s shops, said: “The team are very upset about the break in.

“It feels heartless to damage our store and force us to close for an entire day.”

Sense Coventry is now calling on the public for support including stock donations and cash donations.

It is also welcoming new volunteer applications to help conquer this break-in set-back.

Simone said everyone at Sense was determined to fight back and make up all the losses suffered.

“We’d warmly welcome any help people can give us.

“Sense is a fantastic charity that supports people living with complex disabilities.

“We’re so proud of our Willenhall shop and the work we do here.”

Anyone who can help can go into the shop, email [email protected] or call 02476 305718.
