UNEMPLOYMENT in Coventry and Warwickshire saw a marginal drop in the month of August.
In Coventry, unemployment figures dropped from 4,455 to 4,435 and in Warwickshire there was a fall from 3,370 to 3,355 – meaning an overall fall of 35 across the city and county.
Louise Bennett, chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said she welcomes the fall in unemployment across the area, even though it’s only a small drop.
She added: “Against a backdrop of uncertainty, we are pleased to see that businesses are still looking to grow.
“However we want to ensure they can expand even further, grow our economy and create new jobs.
“Our Go For Growth campaign has been looking into the barriers to growth such as skills, available property and also the opportunities available.
“It’s important we look at every aspect of this and that will help us to continue to drive down unemployment in Coventry and Warwickshire.”
Go For Growth will be the theme at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce conference in October where a range of experts will talk about where the economy looks to be heading in the short and long term future.
