YOUNGSTERS at St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School have placed more than 200 pieces of pebble art across the city’s parks and green spaces as part of a project honouring Coventry’s mums.

Children from every year group in the school were given a pebble to decorate with felt tips or paint, before sealing them with varnish to protect them against the outdoors.

The students were tasked with decorating their pebbles around the theme of ‘spreading joy for others’ in honour of any maternal figures in their lives.

And parents were also able to get involved to either help pupils with their pebble art or create their own.

This project is among many the school have planned for the pupils with each one aiming to bring people living in the area closer together.

St Gregory’s associate principal, Megan Scullion, said: “While Mother’s Day is an important opportunity to show gratitude to mothers, grandmothers and other family members and carers, our pebble art project is designed to extend this out into the wider community over a longer period of time.

“We hope people will spot the creations and that they bring a moment of joy or reflection when they are walking their dog or are simply out and about.”
