TWO MEN have been arrested in the city as part of an investigation into child sexual exploitation.
The men, aged 28 and 24, were arrested from an address in Wellington Street, Hillfields, at 6am yesterday (Wednesday) as Officers from the force’s Public Protection Unit, together with local officers, executed a warrant.
The 28-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of rape and supplying drugs while the 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply.
The arrests are part of an investigation into child sexual exploitation and more arrests are expected to follow.
Det Chief Insp Dean Young from Coventry PPU said: “Child sexual exploitation affects all communities and it remains a top priority for us- nothing is more important in policing than protecting vulnerable people.”
A regional campaign − See Me Hear Me (www.seeme-hearme.org.uk) – launched in June this year and has seen all agencies responsible for tackling child sexual exploitation working to common standards of reporting and investigation.
