City photographer handed 'opportunity of a lifetime' to have work displayed

IT HAS been a summer of success for one photographer who has been given the ‘opportunity of a lifetime’ to exhibit his work.

Martin Power, 29, from Coventry has been selected as the fourth winner of Jessops’ #ShareYourSummer2017 competition – and has been given the chance to display his work across 57 store windows.

Delighted with his achievement, Martin said: “My passion for photography really started off in January. I needed a hobby to occupy my time when I wasn’t at work, and to give me a chance to see life in a different perspective.

“The image itself was quite literally a spontaneous ‘in the moment’ shot. I had just finished photographing a sunrise and when I got back into my car I noticed I needed diesel.

“I headed to the garage and on my way there I noticed an idyllic summer’s scene of the sun still creeping up and beginning to wake the surrounding fields. That is when I felt inspired and decide to take another chance with my camera”.

On top of a week-long window display, Martin will be invited to showcase his work at an exclusive celebration party in London, hosted by Sony.

The overall winner will also be announced on the night and will receive £3,000 worth of Sony equipment and £100 worth of Jessops photo vouchers.

The competition will continue to run until August 2.

To enter people can take an image which sums up their summer and upload it to Twitter, Instagram or Facebook with the tag @jessops and the hashtag #ShareYourSummer2017
