Colourful Canley parade to return to Coventry next weekend

Coventry Editorial 31st May, 2023   0

COVENTRY will be full of music and awash with colour next Saturday, June 10 when the annual Canley parade returns to the city’s streets.

This year’s parade theme is ‘proud as a peacock’, with local school pupils, Canley church and community group members and care home residents able to show off their creativity in a stunning display of strutting, samba sounds and banner and flag waving.

The parade will start at Canley Community Church at 11am, weaving through the streets and ending at Prior Deram Park at 12.30pm.

Coventrians will then be able to enjoy the Canley big lunch at the park until 4pm.

The big lunch will feature free community-led activities such as arts and crafts, children’s play, stalls, a table-top sale and a pop-up cafe and barbecue.

This year’s parade is part of the Playing Out project, a three-year creative programme taking place across Canley from 2021 to 2023.

Playing Out is a collaboration between Canley residents and nearby Warwick Arts Centre and includes regular free creative workshops at venues across the area.

Visit playingoutcanley.org for more information on the parade.
