COVENTRY students delivered over 1,000 beauty treatments to Commonwealth athletes at the Birmingham 2022 Athletes Village.

Around 200 hair and beauty students from Coventry College helped athletes look and feel at the top of their game.

Gemma Knott, Vice Principal for Business Growth, Engagement and Partnerships at Coventry College, said: “The department should be extremely proud of the work they have done to achieve this, as it shows they have built up a fantastic reputation over the years.”

The department arrived at the Athletes Village before the competitors and remained on site for the duration of the games.

The commission provided work experience for students completing Level 2 Certificates in Barbering as well as Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Hairdressing or Nail Services.

Jenny Spires, Curriculum Manager of Hair and Beauty at Coventry College, said: “This opportunity has provided a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our students, many of whom will be returning to complete the next level of their diplomas.”
