AN EXCITING new contemporary dance piece will be performed at Compton Verney, near Coventry, this weekend.

Where all paths lead, by choreographer Tasmin Fitzgerald and performed by 2Faced Dance Company, will have its world premiere as part of a weekend of performances and workshops at the art gallery and park.

The brand-new outdoor dance theatre work will take place in Compton Verney’s beautiful meadow, with Dutch artist Krijn De Koning’s sculptural artwork Green Dwelling providing a striking backdrop.

It features seven male dancers, Fitzgerald’s characteristic physicality and choreography which incorporates parkour and complex interplay between the performers as they navigate their way across a series of pathways.

Compton Verney Director and CEO Julie Finch said: “Visitors can expect a whirlwind of athletic choreography through an achingly beautiful, cinematic lens.

“Where all paths lead also features an incredible, rhythmic soundtrack, accompanied by live drums.”

To celebrate the world premiere of Where all paths lead, Compton Verney has also created opportunities for dance lovers of all ages and abilities to take part in fun workshops during the weekend.

The fun, informal and fusion-based styles will be suitable for everyone – whether they are an expert ballroom dancer, amateur lindy hopper, club shuffler to rival Elena Cruz or have two left feet.

On Saturday, August 28, from 11am anyone aged seven and over can take part in a 45-minute, special workshop that will teach the signature fusion of dance styles. Places are £7 per child and professional dancers from 2Faced will help participants release plenty of pent-up energy and ignite your creative imagination.

On Sunday, August 29, between 1pm and 1.45pm, children aged between four and six can enjoy a dance workshop like no other – mini movers will be able to jiggle their feet to the beat during a fun, energetic and exciting workshop. The £6-per-child session is the perfect introduction to dance for children who just love to move.

Also on Sunday, there is a chance for older children (aged seven and over) and adults to move, dance and fly in an exciting interactive session where they will learn a series of basic parkour and dance moves, from one of 2Faced’s experienced dancers. The workshop – £7 per person – includes running, jumping and climbing over and around obstacles, so it is ideal for active movers
