COVENTRY’S Coombe Abbey has once again started the historic way of transport for guests to enjoy, showing them original craftwork from when the abbey was first built in 1150.
Abbey punts starts at the boathouse behind a wooden portcullis and next to a cobblestone bridge, with trips from two to six people lasting just over half an hour.
The punts run from Wednesday to Sunday from 10.30am until late summer.
The restored punt is lined with fine silk and features customised upholstered seating to allow better views- it is skippered by Coombe Abbey’s master punt operator Anthony Haynes, who founded Abbey Punts.
Ron Terry, group operations director at No Ordinary Hospitality, said: “Abbey Punts is a truly magical way to explore the historic grounds of Coombe Abbey.
“With some incredible views and Anthony’s fantastic hosting skills, there aren’t many better ways to spend an afternoon when the sun is shining.”
