Coventry Editorial 20th Mar, 2020 Updated: 20th Mar, 2020   0

PUBS, restaurants, gyms, leisure centres and theatres have been ordered to close their doors until further notice as of tonight (Friday March 20), as part of radical new government measure to slow the spread of Coronavirus.

The restriction also applies to betting shops, bingo halls, casinos, spas, museums and galleries.

Bars and eateries will still be allowed to sell takeaway food and drink.

Also announced in the government’s daily update was a scheme to help employers by letting them apply to HM Revenue and Customs to cover 80 per cent of wages of staff who are unable to work due to the pandemic.
