Could you be the heir to one of 47 unclaimed Coventry estates worth hundreds of thousands?

THE TREASURY has revealed details of 47 unclaimed estates worth hundreds of thousands of pounds that belonged to people who died in Coventry.

The Coventrians on the list are only a few of the 6,500 unclaimed fortunes across the UK that can’t be touched until the rightful heir is found.

Official figures from 2021 showed £77million in unclaimed inheritance was languishing in treasury coffers.

Unclaimed estates happen when there is no will, those mentioned in the will can’t be traced and the next family member can’t be found.

Only estates with a net value of £500 or more are advertised.

The surnames of deceased people in Coventry where estates are unclaimed include O’Rourke, Branch, Cook, Crumm, Downey, Fairburn, Foxwell, Halliwell, Hartmann, Khattab, Lavin, Mahon, O’Grady, Ward, Wilson, Yates, Ahern, Bansi, Budavicius, Bury, Cooke and Darker.

If no relative can be found within 12 years, the dormant estate becomes the property of the Crown, although claims can still be made afterwards if someone is legitimately entitled.
