Coventry Ambassadors appeal for new volunteers

Coventry Editorial 5th Apr, 2018   0

COVENTRY Ambassadors are appealing for new volunteers to represent the city.

The Coventry Ambassador volunteer programme is looking for ‘helpful, friendly, welcoming and polite’ individuals to assist at future events.

The scheme is a successful remnant of the London 2012 Olympic Games in which outgoing volunteers assisted visitors to the city at a number of high-profile events.

The project has received national recognition after winning The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award and is being used as a model for the host cities of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Chiefs say since 2012 the Coventry Ambassador volunteers have supported over 130 events from community open days to Royal visits and contributed over 30,000 volunteer hours.

An Ambassadors spokesperson said: “The Ambassadors capture the immense pride shown by local people for their home city and gives them the opportunity to showcase the very best of what their area has to offer through their amazing people skills.”
