Coventry Editorial 9th Nov, 2022   0

ARTS Council England will be giving 17 organisations in Coventry and Warwickshire a share of £62.4million in Coventry between 2023 and 2026 to develop programmes in the area.

The organisations will be splitting £20.8million each year, with the cash being used more people in the area can find fulfilling art and culture programmes on their doorsteps.

It will also build on the Arts Council’s longer-term aims set out in its 10-year strategy, Let’s Create.

New funding will be provided to organisations such as Coventry-based EGO, which provides music, theatre and production arts workshops for people of all ages and abilities.

Imagineer, which is based in Coventry’s Daimler Powerhouse and creates outdoor site-specific work based on art, engineering, environmental and social change, are also among the new names to receive funding.

Arts Council England will also be increasing investment in organisations including the Belgrade Theatre and Open Theatre, which works with young people with learning disabilities through non-verbal physical theatre work.

Arts Council England area director Peter Knott said: “We’re delighted to unveil our ambitious new portfolio reaching more people in more places across Coventry and Warwickshire than ever before.

“We’re incredibly proud of what Coventry achieved as its time as City of Culture, creativity was given time and space to flourish and change lives across the city and we’re delighted to introduce five new organisations to the area.”
