Coventry Building Society bring music and friendship to residents

COVENTRY Building Society (CBS) took people in the community to Belgrade Theatre last month for a day of music, comedy and friendship.

The building society took around 40 aged 60 and above to a performance of ‘The Great British Seaside’ variety show as one of its befriending events.

The guest list included members of Age UK, members of the community who are feeling lonely and residents at two local care homes.

Also in attendance were regulars at the ‘friendship coffee mornings’ that are held every Friday between 10am and 11am at the CBS Cheylesmore branch.

The day was made possible by Belgrade Theatre who allocated free tickets to CBS due to their association with them.

These befriending days are regular events with previous events including a Coventry City presentation morning featuring several Sky Blues legends.

CBS Senior Community Specialist Emma Brodie said: “I’m really pleased with how much people are enjoying these befriending events and how many people we are helping.

“We’re conscious that many more people in our community are feeling isolated and alone and we’d love to be able to reach out to those people too.”
