CAMPAIGNERS, trade unionists and academics committed to a ‘left-wing Brexit’ will hold a public meeting in Coventry.
Organisers say the free event, ‘Transforming Britain After Brexit’, will be a conversation about the future of Coventry and the wider country after it leaves the European Union.
It will take place at Central Hall in Warwick Lane on Monday March 4, from 6.30pm.
The meeting is part of a tour, led by economics professor Costas Lapavitsas, a former member of the Greek parliament for the left-wing Syriza government.
Coventry’s former trade union activist Doug Nicholls, chair of Trade Unionists Against the EU, will also speak.
He said: “Coventry’s proud industrial base was torn apart in the 1980s, and EU subsidies enticed companies to relocate to the continent.
“Outside the EU, we can finally start to rebuild high-tech, high-skill, green manufacturing.
“Everyone interested in the future of Coventry and our country should join us.”
Others attending will include community activist Anshu Srivastava, Grace Blakeley from the Institute for Public Policy Research think tank, and Warwick University graduate Dr Lee Jones, co-founder of The Full Brexit network.
