A CARE home in Coventry booked a Sixties’ band to perform a special outdoor gig for a resident Beatles fan.
Staff at HC-One’s Victoria park care home, in Stoke, Coventry helped fulfill one of the lifelong wishes of Michael Gallagher, who had always wanted to listen to the Beatles and John Lennon’s music live.
The home’s wellbeing coordinator contacted a tribute band called Sixties Retro, who came out to the home and sang a few of their top covers, including two of Michael’s all-time favourite songs – Imagine and Get Back.
Staff made sure Michael was wrapped up warm for the outdoor gig. He was joined by his sister, Mary. Afterwards Michael wanted to give the band a gift to say thanks, so on his behalf they received a box of chocolates and a couple of bottles of wine.
Home manager Michael David said: “This was a beautiful evening being able to fulfil a Resident’s wish, it was also very emotional.”
