TWO CARERS at a Coventry care home have been voted finalists in the Great British Care Awards.
Care assistant Emma Mullen and chef Gillian Craythorne at Herald Lodge care home on Canley Road, were named finalists for the West Midlands region at the awards in recognition of their dedication to residents at the home.
Emma was nominated for the Care Home Worker Award, with Gillian being up for the Care Home Cook/Chef Award after being nominated by colleagues, relatives and residents.
Residents at Herald Lodge, which is operated by Ideal Carehomes, are said to have been thrilled that the duo were selected as finalists, and even though they didn’t win their categories at the awards, they are ‘all winners’ in their.
Eileen Williams, who has lived at Herald Lodge for over two years, said: “They deserve it, they enjoy working here and they work really hard.”
The judges were looking for care professionals who stood out to them by providing a consistently high standard of care, respecting residents’ privacy and dignity, with evidence of dedication and ‘going the extra mile’.
