Coventry Christmas tree collection gives late gift to charities

THIS YEAR’s Coventry and Warwickshire charity Christmas Tree collection raised £45,750, thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers.

In total, 205 volunteers took part with 71 vans on the road collecting 3,308 real Christmas trees in exchange for a donation to charity.

This total included more than 100 trees used at the Warwick Castle Christmas Light Trail.

Over the last four years, the campaign has raised over £100,000 for The Myton Hospices and Pass The Smile, including £34,000 in 2022.

Scott Crowther from Pass The Smile said: “Every year we’ve managed to grow in terms of trees, donations and the vast team of kind people who help us do this.

“It never fails to surprise me we have this level of support – folks who’ll come out in the wind and rain in freezing temperatures to raise money.”

The Myton Hospices’ director of income generation Charlotte Ingram added the cash would make a big difference for their patients and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.
