Coventry City ‘exploring backup plans’ to Arena for Tuesday’s game against Blackburn

COVENTRY City is ‘exploring alternative backup plans’ to host Tuesday night’s home game against Blackburn Rovers should the Coventry Building Society Arena be unavailable.

The period of notice of administration for Arena Coventry Limited ends on Monday, the day before the scheduled game against Blackburn.

In a statement, the club said they want to be able to play the game at the arena but admitted this may not be possible due to circumstances ‘which are outside the clubs control’.

The club added they are in ‘constant dialogue’ with Arena Coventry Limited, Coventry City Council and the EFL on the issue.

The club statement continued: “Following dialogue with the EFL, the Club is aware of its ongoing requirement to fulfil our fixtures as scheduled and mindful that there is minimal room within the fixture calendar following postponements earlier this year.

“The EFL has informed the Club that they should explore alternative options to ensure the fixture is played as scheduled, in the event that the CBS Arena is not available.”

Tomorrow’s home game against Blackpool will be taking place at the Arena as scheduled.
