THE PAUL Hamlyn Foundation has awarded Coventry City of Culture Trust £250,000 to help with commissioning cultural projects with a strong social and environmental consciousness.

The funding will be distributed to several commissions to underrepresented and marginalised people and groups who have barriers to creative opportunities.

The cash will be used to build these groups to ensure the cultural and voluntary sector in the city is stronger and better coordinated by March 2024.

The Cosy Creative project, which will start next month, will be held in Coventry Central Hall and is a response to the cost-of-living crisis and will be held in Coventry Central Hall and Foleshill Community Centre.

The four-week creative workshops will be focusing on making sustainable art, ending with a weekend of celebration on January 28 and 29.

They also aim to provide a warm and safe space to enjoy creative performances and food.

Coventry City of Culture Trust chief executive Martin Sutherland said: “We are extremely grateful to have secured another grant from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

“This generous grant will enable a wide variety of artists, organisations, and the community to come together to develop and partake in engaging, entertaining, and thought-provoking projects.”
