COVENTRY City Football Club could be returning to the Ricoh Arena, according to reports by BBC CWR.
Currently the Sky Blues are playing their home games at Birmingham City’s St Andrew’s and have been for the last two seasons.
The reports suggest the proposed home-coming will be discussed by the English Football League and an announcement could be made as early as tomorrow.
Towards the end of last year discussions were ongoing between Coventry City and the University of Warwick about the possibility of a new stadium for the club on land owned by the university. It has been mooted the club’s owners are still aiming long-term to build that ground.
The Ricoh Arena was sold by the city council to Wasps in 2014 and a new deal for the Sky Blues to return to playing there – estimated at up to 10 years – would be with the rugby club as landlords.
It is also suggested Coventry City could face a ‘significant cost’ to terminate their ground-share deal with Birmingham City early.
