COVENTRY City striker Viktor Gyökeres has been recognised for his outstanding season by being nominated for the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Year.
Gyökeres has hit 21 goals in the championship this season as the Sky Blues finished 5th and reached the playoffs.
The Swedish striker has also bagged 11 assists for the Sky Blues, with the most crucial coming last night (May 17) as he set up Gustavo Hamer’s winner against Middlesbrough in the playoff semi-final second leg to put Coventry one game away from a return to the premier league.
No championship player has made more goal contributions than Gyökeres over the course of this campaign.
The 24-year-old has been acknowledged for his efforts throughout this season, winning the championship Player of the Month award for November and March.
Gyökeres has been nominated alongside Luton Town forward Carlton Morris, Burnley’s Nathan Tella and Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom, who finished as the championship top scorer this season.
Sunderland wonderkid Amad Diallo, on loan from Manchester United, and Sheffield United’s Illiman N’Diaye also made the shortlist.
Fans can vote for their player of the year until just before midnight on Sunday, May 28.
