COVENTRY College is helping to train people to combat rising home energy costs while improving their employment chances through a series of two-week spray foam home insulation skills boot camps.
The free boot camps are part of the government’s skills for life guarantee, which aims to help unemployed people launch careers and industry professionals progress in the retrofit and sustainability sector.
The courses last up to 16 weeks and are flexible, giving people the chance to develop their skills and increase the likelihood of an interview with an employer.
The spray foam insulation boot camps will be delivered at the college from November until next March and include 60 learning hours.
Anyone aged over 19 can take part, with students learning how to apply the spray foam as well as product types and their uses and how insulation is vital to future-proofing buildings.
The college is working with Thermoprotect to co-design the training programmes and offer potential interview and employment opportunities.
Gemma Knott, Vice Principal for Business Growth, Engagement and Partnerships at Coventry College, said: “We are thrilled to be delivering Skills Bootcamps in spray foam insulation as a way of enriching the local workforce and giving people across the UK a route into an industry that will have a huge impact on our lives in both the short and long-term.
