BUSINESSES in Coventry and Warwickshire have received a call to action from Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE – scientist and broadcaster known for ‘face of space.’

Speaking at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce’s BIG Business Lunch held at the IXL Events Centre, Dr Aderin-Pocock urged attendees to embrace creativity, innovation, and inspiration in their endeavors.

The event – which drew over 200 business leaders – provided a platform for Dr Aderin-Pocock to share insights from her career and the diverse influences that shaped her journey.

She said everything from Star Trek to Gladys West set her on the path to becoming an award winning author, despite her dyslexia.

“We are all responsible for supporting and creating the workforce of the future.

“I am living proof that even the craziest dreams can come true.

“We need to be role models, be relevant to young people, and tap into that sense of wonder.

“STEM needs to be much more diverse, and it’s important that we show how rewarding working in science can be.”

The BIG Business Lunch, supported by West Midlands Trains and Procure4, provided a vibrant platform for networking and learning. Attendees were treated to a presentation by Dr Aderin-Pocock, who left a lasting impression with her call for embracing creativity and fostering inclusivity in business and beyond.
