MORE than £53,000 worth of grants have been awarded to four Warwickshire charities from Severn Trent’s Community Fund, including two Coventry groups.
Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind has received £21,528 from Severn Trent to replace 27 windows in its Boston Lodge building.
Boston Lodge was originally a care home before being bought by the charity in 2018.
The building is currently being refurbished with the new windows essential to help reduce utility costs.
The charity provides practical and social support for blind and partially sighted people, their carers and families in the city.
Lenton Lane’s Baptist Church in Aldermans Green has been awarded £18,000 to improve the kitchen at its community hall, which is used by a range of groups and has recently undergone upgrades.
Other grants include a £3,000 donation to Perkisound CIO, a musically inspired ‘Stay and Play’ recreation centre for those with special needs.
The cash will be used towards developing a butterfly enclosure and learning space in a vacant barn.
And £11,066 has been given to Nuneaton and North Warwickshire Equestrian Centre’s Riding for the Disabled project to create a new 12-month co-ordinator role.
The person taking up the job will recruit new volunteers with a view to helping them into further employment opportunities.
