Coventry council offers further support to residents

COVENTRY City Council are offering further support as more people across the city are feeling the pressure from the increasing cost of living.

The department for work and pensions has announced an extension to the household support grant until September 30.

The fund is designed to support households struggling with financial hardship and do not qualify for other types of government support.

Households can apply for support in cost of food, fuel, energy bills and related essentials.

Grants are based on individual needs so the council consider a range of support which might help.

Laura Waller, digital services and inclusion lead, said: “The price of energy, food and bills are all rising and many people in the city are worried about finances, so it is vital that there are services in Coventry that can help in these times of need.

“Over the course of the Household Support Fund period, and as the cost of living increasingly impacted on households, the level of demand for support has been increasing, which is why this funding is still so desperately needed in the city.

“The Council’s priority is to support our residents during these challenging times and support the effort to get essential financial assistance to households as quickly as possible and improve the lives of our Coventry people.”
